Welcome To Pattern App and our new blog!

Pattern App is our new user interface design pattern library that replaced the old one at http://uipatternfactory.com. We decided to revamp the old site completely as we wanted to create a new and more engaging library. What you see now is the first public beta of it.

In the coming months we want to transform Pattern App to a forum and a tool for sharing, creating and managing design patterns. Our aim is to facilitate people in creating great user experiences, with the help of design patterns.

Pattern App has some changes compared to our old library (and many more coming in the future). For Pattern App we introduced Mini Pattern concept, which aims to make it faster to read and write patterns. For many UI patterns a short description of the problem provided with a simple and fast solution is enough. Check Always-Visible Tools mini pattern and Hover-Reveal Tools mini pattern to see how they look like.

One change in Pattern App is that we use and adapt patterns published under Creative Commons license in other pattern libraries. For now this means patterns from Yahoo! Design Pattern Library and Open Design Patterns. In the future we aim to collect patterns also from other collections that share them under Creative Commons licence. We do this because we want to create a collective resource of design patterns for everyone to use. Our resources will be mainly focused on creating better tools for using this resource instead of writing all the patterns by our selves. We hope that you will join us in this endeavour!

Please give us feedback on how to improve Pattern App on our feedback forum or leave a comment here!
