We took our latest step in developing Patternry towards a more interactive and community driven resource. All signed users can now contribute to patterns by adding new images to them.
Screenshots are worth a thousand words
Example images help to understand the idea of a specific pattern and make applying it in practice simple. Also, they illustrate how other people have used the patterns successfully in their projects, and help people get inspiration and ideas for their designs. To add images to patterns, sign up, open a pattern where you want to add them, scroll down to “Where is it used”-sections and you’ll find “Add an example”-link right below it.
We’re a little late on our schedule
We were hoping that users could have started adding images already back in September, but it took a lot more time than we estimated. The solution we first started working on was too fancy and we had a lot of problems with it. Since it slowed us down a lot, we decided to go with a more simple solution which did the same as the fancy one, but took a lot less time to implement. Doing things easy and simple will be also our focus in the future to make the development of Patternry faster.
Coming next: everyone can suggest new (mini) patterns
Adding links and images were just the first steps for making it possible for users to add new patterns. The next step will be mini patterns. We are quite far with the implementation already so stay tuned.
Please share your comments and ideas.
Thanks!
